How the Assessment Works

This assessment maps your AI workflows on a maturity grid with two axes. Understanding them takes 60 seconds.

Rows: Level of autonomy

The vertical axis runs from fully manual (no AI) at the top to fully autonomous (AI runs entire functions) at the bottom. Moving down means giving AI more independence, which requires trust infrastructure: governance frameworks, quality monitoring, escalation policies, and evidence that the AI performs reliably.

This axis measures how much trust your organization has built around each workflow.

Columns: Type of capability

The horizontal axis describes what kind of work the AI does:

Retrieval
Finding and surfacing information
Synthesis
Analyzing, comparing, and drawing conclusions
Execution
Carrying out tasks and running processes
Creation
Generating new content, code, or deliverables

Moving across columns means shifting the kind of AI work. Different capabilities need different models, data pipelines, training, and evaluation criteria.

Moving up (more autonomy) means investing in trust and governance. Moving across (different capability) means investing in new tools and training. Most changes involve both, and knowing the mix changes how you plan, staff, and budget.

In the assessment, you'll:

  1. Name the workflows you want to evaluate
  2. Place each workflow on the grid: where it is today, and where you want it to go
  3. Get a report showing the gap and what it takes to close it
